What Building Improvements Will Be Made At Each School This Summer

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA – The Wilmington Department of Public Works and Public Buildings Department will be busy this summer (and early fall) making some significant improvements to many of Wilmington’s school buildings and grounds.At the most recent Wilmington School Committee, Interim Superintendent Paul Ruggiero provided an update on the planned projects.At the Shawsheen Elementary School, new energy efficient LED lighting fixtures will be installed. Additionally, worn parts/panels and fencing at the skateboard park will be addressed.At the Woburn Street School, new energy efficient LED lighting fixtures will be installed.At the North Intermediate School, the rear parking lot will be repaved and re-striped. Additionally, the baseball field’s infield will be rehabilitated.At Wilmington Middle School, the energy management system — which ties in with the building’s heating and HVAC controls — will be upgraded.There are no significant projects planned for the Wildwood Early Childhood Center, the Boutwell Early Childhood Center, the West Intermediate School or the Wilmington High School.All eight schools will receive a great deal of TLC this summer. Each school building will be cleaned and prepared for the new school season. All schools’ gym floors will be refinished. All fire extinguishers and alarm systems will be tested and inspected. All boilers and heating systems will be inspected and serviced. All filters, belts and lubricate to the univents, air handlers and roof top units will be changed.
