The INSiGHTS project brings the development of strategies, tourist maps and signalization of trails in Central Istria

first_imgThirteen partners from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia are at the very end of the INSiGHTS project – “Integrated, Slow, Green and Healthy Tourism Strategies”. LAG “Central Istria” as a project partner and the Administrative Department for Tourism of the Istrian County as an associated partner connected with the Tourist Boards of Central Istria, Motovun and Žminj and jointly approached the development Tourism Development Strategies 2018-2025 for the area of ​​the three tourist boards, which will be the basis for further focused and coordinated tourism development, in accordance with the principles of sustainability. The map is designed as a system that can be continuously supplemented with content, which is made possible through a simple form located on the website. As a supplement to the interactive map, and in preparation for the upcoming tourist season, printed maps with additional content are already available in tourist boards. It is important to emphasize that the interactive and printed maps as well as the signalization on the trails which focus on additional tourist content are made in collaboration with external experts from the Istrian Development Tourist Agency (IRTA) – Bike & outdoor department to align with existing and a recognizable system and so that users can easily access all the information they need. As a novelty in this area, an interactive tourist map has been established, available at www.authentic-istria.com, which brings together numerous facilities near the bike and trail trails in the area so that visitors can plan a visit to the tavern or agritourism, wine tasting in one of the wineries, tour some cultural sights or organize your accommodation for example in a bike & bed accommodation unit.  “In order to make it easier to find content in the field, the trails are also marked with new information boards and signals. Thus, in the area of ​​each of the tourist boards there is an information board showing all the trails and additional content on them (cultural, natural, eno-gastronomic), while the content for which there is no signal, is marked directly on the trails and enriched with QR codes. lead to websites with additional information ” stand out from the Tourist Board of Central Istria. It is a project approved under the Interreg Danube Transnational Program, and was aimed at developing sustainable tourism in the included regions, including inland Istria.
