About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say REVEALED: The Liverpool player at heart of potential Carabao Cup expulsionby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveLiverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella is the player at the centre of an EFL investigation that could see the Reds kicked out of the Carabao Cup, it has been claimed. The 22-year-old did not have the necessary international clearance to feature in Wednesday’s 2-0 win at MK Dons, in which he came on as a substitute for Naby Keita in the 63rd minute, says the Mirror. The 22-year-old signed for the Reds’ academy from Valencia in 2013, and made his debut for the club in a 1-1 Europa League draw with Bordeaux in September 2015, when Brendan Rodgers was still the Reds’ manager. But Wednesday’s appearance off the bench was his first outing for Liverpool’s first-team since a 3-1 defeat at Swansea in May 2016.Since then he’s been on loan spells to Dutch sides Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II, as well as Extremadura in Spain in January last year. However Chirivella ran into registration problems with the latter, and failed to make an appearance for the Segunda Division side before returning to Liverpool .It is thought that he then needed fresh international clearance to feature for his parent club upon his return, with Liverpool having made an application on his behalf in July. The Reds feel that the failure to register him is an administrative error from the FA, and are confident that they won’t face expulsion from the Carabao Cup.
Ex-Arsenal chief Jonker explains ‘fat’ jibe for Donyell Malenby Paul Vegas25 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveTelstar coach Andries Jonker has spoken of PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen’s problems at Arsenal.Malen has it out at Jonker after being branded “fat” by the former Gunners academy chief. But Jonker told FOX Sport: “We found that he had to have a training delay for two months. He wasn’t fit enough, that’s what it was all about.”In my eyes he’s a great example for all those talents who think: what should I do now? At Arsenal he has been in a situation where it seemed to be over. He converted that attitude himself because he knew; this is not it and I have to change things.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
doug gottlieb criticizes ezekiel elliottFollowing Ohio State’s last-second loss to Michigan State Saturday night, Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott went on a bit of a rant, criticizing his team’s coaching staff for its play-calling during the contest. Elliott also announced that he’ll be declaring for the NFL Draft after the season.Well, it doesn’t look like everyone is impressed with Zeke’s decision to air his frustrations via the media. CBS Sports college basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb says that Elliott should be embarrassed. He added that you should never “call out” your teammates or coaching staff after a big loss.pretty embarrassing what Ezekiel Elliott pulled, Im sure some on twitter will support him…but that is why they are on twitter— Doug Gottlieb (@GottliebShow) November 22, 2015Kids feel mirror society- feel entitled- you don’t ever call out your teammates or coaches after a big loss. coach calipari nba videoKentucky head coach John Calipari does a great job of keeping tabs on his former players – and making sure that Wildcats fans continue to support them throughout their careers. Friday, he released an interesting video that UK supporters should enjoy. In the below clip, Calipari urges Kentucky fans to vote for the school’s former stars – including DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Enes Kanter, Brandon Knight, Rajon Rondo, Karl-Anthony Towns, John Wall – for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game. He name-drops pretty much every player who ever came through the system.Coach Cal also uses some props – including a fake unibrow – to make his point. Enjoy:
Yoshimar Yotun is headed to Cruz Azul, the club announced Thursday. The Peruvian midfielder was one of few players who stood out for Orlando City in a 2018 campaign that saw the club change coaches midseason but still miss the playoffs and finish last in the Eastern Conference with only 28 points from 34 matches. The fee was not disclosed in the official announcement, but media reports on both sides of the border put the fee between $3.5 million-$4 million. The MLS club made clear that it worked to keep him in Florida but was unable to convince the 28-year-old to stay.”Yoshi has been an important player for this Club; however, he expressed interest in Cruz Azul at the conclusion of the season. We worked closely with him and his agent to keep him in Orlando, including offering new contract options,” Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi said in a news release.“Ultimately, the player had his mind set on a move to Mexico, and we reached the best possible outcome for both him and the Club. We thank Yoshi for his time with Orlando City and wish him the best of luck in the future.”Cruz Azul finished as Liga MX runner-up after topping the regular season table but falling 2-0 on aggregate to Club America in the final. In search of its first title since 1997, the club again has been active in the transfer market with sporting director Ricardo Paleaz making Yotun his fourth winter signing. Earlier in the window, La Maquina added midfielder Orbelin Pineda from Chivas and forward Jonathan Rodriguez from Santos Laguna.Yotun and Pineda are both versatie players who can fill various roles in the midfield, but still add to a crowd in the midfield for Pedro Caixinha’s club. They’ll be competing for minutes with 20-year-old Roberto Alvarado while Ivan Marcone seems likley to keep his place as the No. 6. Rafa Baca and Javier Salas, both of which started as 8s during the season, also remain on the roster.Orlando City also has been busy with Muzzi starting work this month and looking to overhaul the team as it seeks a playoff return. The club moved the rights for goalkeeper Joe Bendik to the Columbus Crew for $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. Goal sources indicate the Lions also are set to make a move for Real Salt Lake left back Danilo Acosta.
Ernesto Valverde rejected the suggestion that a run in the Copa del Rey could derail Barcelona’s La Liga title charge, saying his side are intent on winning both competitions. The Blaugrana face Levante in the first leg of their round of 16 tie on Thursday, four days after claiming a hard-fought 2-1 win at Getafe in the league.A home game against Eibar awaits Valverde’s men on Sunday but the coach played down the idea that the additional fixtures were a threat to his side’s chances of glory. Last season we might have dropped a point or two.”It’s true the games come all at once and we have to make changes but the excitement for the club means a lot to us.”Everyone loves playing in semi-finals and finals. The club also,” said Valverde.”The sooner a solution is found, the better. If it can be resolved in the winter transfer market, all the better.”

MIAMI, FL – APRIL 13: Tate Martell #18 of the Miami Hurricanes performs drills during the annual Spring Game at Nathaniel Traz-Powell Stadium on April 13, 2019 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Mark Brown/Getty Images)Even when Tate Martell isn’t on the field, the polarizing quarterback remains a constant talking point in college football.Martell had fans buzzing last weekend when he suited up as a wide receiver for the Miami Hurricanes. At this point, it wouldn’t be shocking if he transitioned over to that position. The Hurricanes seem pretty confident in Jarren Williams as their starting quarterback, which means Martell likely won’t see much time under center. Yet, the former four-star recruit could decide to transfer in the future. In the event that Martell does enter the NCAA transfer portal, there appears to be one fan base in particular that wants him. During ESPN’s College GameDay, a fan was holding a sign that said “Tate Martell, UNLV will still take you.”Check it out:Wait a minute, two straight weeks @unlvfootball and @TheTateMartell in the same sentence, making it on @CollegeGameDay??#UNLVFB pic.twitter.com/BItekjO6Tr— W.G. Ramirez (@WillieGRamirez) August 31, 2019Perhaps, the fan that made this sign just wanted to troll Martell. On the other hand, it’s not a bad suggestion if he the dual-threat quarterback wants to look at other options. Martell played his high school ball in Las Vegas.Martell and the Hurricanes will be on the road next week as they try to get their first win of the season. His role on offense could be different as he gets more acclimated to the scheme. It’ll be an ACC showdown in Week 2 when Miami faces North Carolina.
