Brand Leadership Award

first_imgMonday, 27 September 2010, Johannesburg – The Chairperson of the International Marketing Council of South Africa’s Board of Trustees, Ms. Anitha Soni, will receive a Brand Leadership Award at the 2010 World Brand Congress which takes place from 22 to 24 November at Taj Lands End in Mumbai.Ms. Soni, an accomplished tourism specialist and award-winning businesswomen, will be honoured for her “professional efforts”. The Brand Leadership Award is the most prestigious award an individual can receive at the World Brand Congress.Ms. Soni plays a leading role as Chairperson of the Board in overseeing the activities of the International Marketing Council (IMC) as it delivers on its mandate to manage the country reputation and position the country as an investment destination of choice. Under her guidance the IMC is succeeding to deliver on this mandate, both domestically and internationally, the most recent example being the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ when the IMC’s mobilisation initiatives engendered strong social cohesion among South Africans which, in turn, led to the country fulfilling its 2010 brand promise: “Ke nako – celebrate Africa’s humanity”.Also under Ms. Soni’s leadership, the IMC has met with great success in positioning the macro-economic benefits of the World Cup among international audiences. Ms. Soni was also instrumental in the IMC’s drive to position South Africa’s business and economic competitiveness at the 2010 meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.Soni says she is honoured that the Global Council has decided to bestow such a prestigious award on her.“The World Brand Congress is a gathering of exceptional talent in the fields of Marketing and Branding.
