‘It feels great to be back!’ – Yaya Toure quashes continued rumours of Manchester City exit

first_img1 Yaya Toure seems to have reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City, amid continued rumours of a possible switch to Inter Milan. Many had expected City to be starting the new season without the Ivory Coast international, who had seemed set on a move away this summer. His supposed frustrations with the club led to links with a reunion with former Blues coach Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan, and though Toure’s agent moved to squash those rumours following talks with City’s hierarchy, it appears Mancini is still optimistic over a deal for the juggernaut midfielder. But, Toure himself has now insisted he is planning to spend the forthcoming Premier League season in a City shirt, and is eager to prove the Blues can challenge for the top flight title once again.“I’m just really looking forward to next season and it feels great to be back,” he said on the club’s website.“I’m going to work as hard as I can in pre-season and we’re already looking forward to playing in front of our own fans again in six weeks or so.”The 32-year-old added: “I’m not the biggest fan of pre-season if I’m honest, but we all know we have to prepare well and eat properly so we’re good to go at the start of the season.“As for predictions, I don’t want to say we’ll do this or that – just that we have our targets and we want to make the fans and this club proud. Last season was disappointing by our own standards because we know we could have done better.“We are looking forward to welcoming some new players as well which will strengthen the team and together we want to achieve something really big this year. We are looking forward to bouncing back very strongly.” Manchester City and Ivory Coast star Yaya Toure last_img
