Exclusive – Theo Walcott on Arsenal team-mates: “I’ve been there ten years and this is the best squad!”

first_imgArsenal striker Theo Walcott believes the club’s campaign has been a step up from last year, but the England international has demanded his team-mates mount a title challenge next season.The Gunners improved on their Premier League finish, securing third spot as opposed to last season’s fourth, and have the chance to retain the FA Cup against Aston Villa on Saturday.Walcott has spent a decade at the Emirates and has never experienced a realistic title bid, but he believes the current squad are the best equipped to do so that he has been a part of.“Overall finishing third is a step up from last year, but as I’ve said before we need to be really challenging for that Premier League,” Walcott told talkSPORT’s Warren Houghton.“Personally, I’ve been there ten years and this is the best squad I’ve actually been involved in.”Walcott has endured rumours about his Arsenal future after finding game time hard to come by at times this season, with a move to Liverpool reportedly proposed.But the 26-year-old reminded the Gunners of his undoubted quality with a quick-fire hat-trick in Arsenal’s final day demolition of West Brom, and the forward just wants to remain focused on his game.He added: “I’ve done my part.
