first_img2 Jul 2012 Talented foursome head for Dutch showdown Four talented youngsters, Oliver Carr (Heswall, Cheshire), Joe Dean (Lindrick, Yorkshire), Harrison Greenberry (Exeter G&CC, Devon) and Nathan Kimsey (Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire), have been selected to represent the England Golf in the Poncat Dutch Junior Open (formerly the Riverswood Junior Open) at Toxandria Golf Club, near Breda, in the Netherlands on 18th – 21st July. The Poncat Dutch Junior Open is a 72-hole stroke play competition for boys and girls under 21 years of age. It is also a counting event on the R&A’s World Amateur Ranking. Carr, 19, the Cheshire boy champion in 2010, boosted his potential by winning the South East of England Links Championship at Royal St George’s in Kent. He has been capped at under 16 and boys’ levels and last year he was a quarter finalist in the British Boys Championship and the Cheshire Match Play Championship.  The 19 year old also represented England Golf in the Costa Ballena Tournament in Spain in January.  Dean, 18, will be making his first overseas trip with England Golf. He is currently fourth on the Titleist/FootJoy England Boys Order of Merit following his second place in this year’s Fairhaven Trophy. Greenberry, 18, is the reigning British Boys championfollowing his victory at Burnham & Berrow last August. That saw him selected to represent GB&I against Europe in the Jacques Leglise Trophy in Spain. Earlier, he finished seventh in the Carris Trophy, the English Boys under 18 Championship and he finished last season top of the Titleist/FootJoy EGU Boys Order of Merit. This season he has finished joint fifth in the South West Qualifying and tied sixth in the Brabazon Southern Qualifier. Kimsey, 19 (image © Tom Ward), enjoyed a successful 2011, finishing fourth on the Titleist/FootJoy England Golf Boys Order of Merit after victory in the McEvoy Trophy and several other high finishes. This year, he has won the Darwin Salver, finished third in the South of England Links Championship and reached the last 32 of the Amateur Championship. The winners of the Poncat receive an entry into the KLM Dutch Open on the European Tour in September and the Deloitte Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour in June 2013.last_img
