Bruins eliminated from playoffs

first_imgELLSWORTH — The Boston Bruins were eliminated from the NHL playoffs after Clarke MacArthur’s overtime goal gave the Ottawa Senators a 4-2 series win in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals Sunday.Boston won the first game of the series but then proceeded to drop the next three. After the Bruins bounced back to win Game 5, MacArthur scored 6 minutes, 30 seconds into overtime to give Ottawa a 3-2 win in Game 6 at TD Garden.The Bruins also announced Wednesday that they will be retaining Bruce Cassidy as head coach. Cassidy was named the interim head coach following the firing of Claude Julien on Feb. 7.
