Maontri bids for Sligo success

first_img The Matty Tynan-trained eight-year-old won four in a row on the all-weather at Dundalk back in early 2014 but she had never won on the turf until her last start at Leicester, where she ran out a convincing two length victor under Cam Hardie. She carries top-weight of 9st 13lb here but Ian Queally takes a valuable 7lb off and she can be expected to go close. Press Association Maontri will bid to follow up her recent win at Leicester when she takes her chance in the Sligo GAA Raceday August 18th Fillies Handicap.center_img Natural Woman won her maiden over the course and distance last month and she looks a big danger, while others to consider are Takeachanceonme, Belezza Oscura and Que Sera Sera. Johnny Murtagh has booked Pat Smullen to ride Stanley Daley in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden and this son of Bushranger looks the one to beat. He was a good fourth on his last outing at Navan and the step up in trip to six furlongs here should prove ideal. Patrick Prendergast does well with his runners at Sligo and is represented by Greyscape who looks the main danger in a first-time hood. Prendergast has Windward Passage (first-time cheekpieces) in the opening Guinness Claiming Race and the Dubawi gelding has solid claims in what is a competitive contest. Elusive Gent has some form to his name and is sure to have plenty of supporters, while Gun Shoot, General Bunching and Park Ranger are others to consider. Course and distance winner Three Bells might be able to defy top-weight in the Sligo Rovers Raceday August 5th Handicap, while Flowing Air, Palace Art, Bribe The Bouncer and Eloge are a few for the shortlist in the Audi Sligo Apprentice Handicap. Eight-time winner Rock Critic makes his return to action in the Kilcawley Construction Sligo Rated Race and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. Dual course and distance winner Queen Of Alba was third to the high-class Pleascach at Naas on her penultimate start and is sure to have plenty of supporters. Harasava ran well to finish second at Tipperary recently and should prove hard to beat in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden. last_img
